Day 17 NAPOWRIMO#17 A BIRDS VIEW (SPARROW)

Day Seventeen

Napowrimo#17 glopowrimo#17

A BIRDS VIEW (SPARROW)

I have to fly everyday
To find food to feed
My chicks in the nest
I want to thank all humans
Who put water in clay pots
Grains and crushed biscuits
In hanging birdhouses
In their balcony
In this scorching hot weather
At times I have to fly
Far to find their feed
I love it when I put food
In their open beaks
At times there is
No water along the way
One day I was thirsty
Stopped and fell down
Before reaching the nest
Image of my hungry chicks
Was the last one
I had in my eyes
I am so sorry
My little ones
I couldn't feed you
I am very sad!
I am in pain!
I am dying!

DAY 1 NAPOWRIMO BIRDS AT DAWN

NATIONAL POETRY WRITING MONTH
Napowrimo/ Glopowrimo APRIL 2019
1 April 19 DAY 1
BIRDS AT DAWN
In the early wee hours at the break of dawn
Clumsily getting up from the bed with a yawn
Sky wakes up spreading orange grey hues
Slowly the color turning into soft light blues
Time of utter commotion in the aviation worlds
Uninterrupted incessant loud chirping of birds
Sparrows Mynas Parrots Doves and Crows
Communication excitement all the more grows
Sole priority is what to feed the young one
The discussion of that days journey is done
Immediately rushing out of the sanctuary gate
The birds fly to different directions in haste
To return with tiny morsels in their beaks
To feed the open mouths of chicks, neck at peaks
Survival is the simple reason to live with freedom
Simplicity is the virtue of the Animal kingdom

DAY 2 NAPOWRIMO APRIL 2019 WHY IS IT DIFFICULT TO LOVE

NATIONAL POETRY WRITING MONTH
Napowrimo/ Glopowrimo 2 APRIL 2019
DAY 2 PROMPT: Start end with a question
WHY IS IT DIFFICULT TO LOVE
Why is it so difficult to love?
Atrocities, killings, chaos & mayhem omnipresent
Deliberately, far away, happiness & peace is sent
Malicious thoughts ruling the young minds
Deadly venom used in speech by all kinds
Daily horrific inhuman stories in newspapers
Unbelievable barbaric bone chilling acts it caters
Regards and respect of humans descending
Hatred, hostility, intolerance ascending
It is not so difficult to eradicate conflict & hate
Small efforts of love will definitely change the fate
Not to tolerate the intolerance further more
Erase enmity, envy and malice from the core
Swift action, confront it with brevity rare
Small albeit powerful acts of kindness & care
Sharing empathy, laughter and smiles
Bitterness will be swept away by many miles
Speaking softly sweetly soothes the soul
Why then we don’t stop using language foul
Selfless love & compassion is the need
We must sincerely promise and take heed
Bliss, harmony and peace in life will prevail
Set our joy boat filled with happiness on sail
Loving, caring will make life jubilation
Deep down we know only love is the solution
Why then is it so difficult to love?

Day 10 NAPOWRIMO APRIL 2019 URBAN DELHI

Day Ten

DAY 10
NAPOWRIMO
APRIL 2019
PROMPT:
REGIONAL PHRASE FOR WEATHER

URBAN DELHI

I live in urban cosmopolitan capital New Delhi
So I couldn’t come up with a regional phrase
I did try to rack my brains but was stuck in the case
Tried to remember more than the infamous Delhi belly

Unlike the bitter cold French blood curdling winters
We had a fairly mild one, hardly anything to seek
Woolens and fancy coats worn only for a week
Our body pretty warm not much cold to encounter

Summers scorching heat is extreme an unheard kind
Easily one is roasted and fried like an egg on the road
Replenishing with cool beverages body soon overloads
Respite under the shade one runs hither thither to find

Rainy weather is mushy, romantic and so cool
Pitter-patter raindrops slowly softly falling
The drizzle evokes beautiful pleasant feeling
Revel in swashing and splashing in rain pool!

Day 11 NAPOWRIMO APRIL 2019 MY ORIGIN - A LONG STORY

Day Eleven

DAY 11
NAPOWRIMO APRIL 2019
Prompt: My origin

MY ORIGIN - A LONG STORY

Well I was the much desired child welcomed open handed joyously in the family
I was a girl child, the much awaited daughter born after two sons, elder died in infancy
Quite the opposite of what we were used to hearing in the news and among the local gossips
The girl child buried alive! The girl child drowned in milk!
On the contrary mine was a celebrated birth, my father was ecstatic
Not to mention I was the privileged and pampered one as I was always favored by my father
Much to the frustration of my only brother
Why do you always favor her Papa? He would ask him many a times
She is your younger sister, you should not feel hurt or jealous and take care of them, I had two more sisters after me, the youngest one born in Bangkok, Thailand
My father was way ahead of times there was no gender bias no issues at all
Needless to say I ardently adored him following him around like a forlorn puppy
I grew up being an equal to all humans because I was never told to be otherwise
I looked like a tomboy as I wore clothes like boys he always brought us St. Michael jeans Marks & Spencer now from London for both me and my brother
It was usual of my wearing jeans those days I am writing about 70’s and 80’s when it was unheard of in those years the girls were confined in back rooms
Movement of girls restricted not to go out alone and meeting with opposite sex a taboo!
My upbringing was very open and broad minded and yes it was also because of the exposure we had while living abroad on several UN assignments my father was posted
Grew up surrounded by various cultures I studied at various International schools in many countries scattered all across the world
I vividly remember I was studying in Delhi X standard, now in retrospect I find it pretty amusing at my ignorance at that time
I was a not so young girl about 17 years old or so when I questioned him about my religion I knew that I was a Muslim nothing more
Papa who are we? Sunni or Shia?
Beta! Why do you ask? What happened?
He had the habit of asking us kids the info where the query is coming from? Etc. So I told him casually my friend asked me and I didn’t know
Again I asked Papa who are we?
Very patiently in a very soft tone he answered in a simple way almost all my queries of growing up years
He said Beta! We are all human beings first and foremost there is no difference irrespective of place or religion It is important to be a good person with good manners
You are born in a Muslim family so you are a Muslim
We are the Syed Sunni Muslims descendants from Ajmer our ancestors came from the Prophets Family
Also there is not much difference from Shia Muslims
Confused and perplexed my next question as I was afraid that I’ll be ostracized now that everybody knew
Papa I love all my Hindu and Christian friends! And my best friends are Anshu and Sarah!
Beta! Religion is personal, it unites people doesn’t divide people
With a sigh of relief I go on making friends with all till date.
Lately there is so much tension in the air in regards to one’s religion I fail to understand the animosity, the hatred increasing among people I am utterly aghast at the inhuman behavior and cruelty exhibited
I find it such a waste of time there is so much more to do in terms of life and living
I have imbibed all the good qualities honesty, humility, compassion and a little bit of resemblance of my wonderful handsome father
I have learnt purity, loyalty and taken a little bit of beauty from my beautiful mother
I am an honest, compassionate and a trustworthy person loved by all
As my father proudly introduced me to everybody meet my daughter, my (Shehzaadi) princess
I remain one so..till date!

Day 9 NAPOWRIMO APRIL 2019 WHAT THINGS I LIKE & HATE

Day Nine

NATIONAL POETRY WRITING MONTH
#napowrimo #glopowrimo
9 APRIL 2019 DAY 9
WHAT THINGS I LIKE & HATE
My Most Adorable Things are
Babies chuckles, giggles and gurgling
Their innocent wide eyed in amazement
Seeing the electronic red car move the first time
Things That Have Lost Their Power
Compassion is losing luster
Loyalty is lost
Friendship is forgotten
When I Make Myself Imagine
I imagine that I float away
On a magic carpet
To the Palace of enchantment
Experience true magic of existence
Complete with love
Depressing Things are
Blatant lies
Atrocious inhuman behavior
Brutal Betrayals
Hateful Things are
Killings the innocents
Shoot at sight!
Bombing countries
Things That Make One's Heart Beat Faster
The first glimpse of him
After waiting for hours
Stolen glances
Smiling
Always made my heart flutter
Things That Arouse a Fond Memory of the Past
Our favorite love song spurs
Beautiful feelings of love
Whispering the sweet nothings
Splendid Things
When my lover passionately kisses me
Smile on my mother’s face eating ice-cream.
Awkward Things
When the person you were gossiping about
Is standing right behind you and listening
It is very awkward
Embarrassing! Oops!
Things That Give a Clean Feeling
Well a freshly shaven face of a man for sure
And to kiss him there and then
Things That Give an Unclean Feeling
A man who hasn’t bathed
And his perspiration stinks! Yuck!
That’s about all Folks!!
