She was a true Victorian and religious woman
She was protective of her kids, a caring human
Sadly she was widowed at a very young age
She supported her son by being his model at this age
She Anna McNiell was a true fan of her son
She posed quietly sitting for hours for her son
The painting popularly known as ‘Whistler’s mother’
The portrait is austere, abstract and ambitious among other
It is loved by all and has become the icon of motherhood
She sits poised in a straight chair in a pensive mood
Whistler painted his mother in ‘arrangements of grey & black’
She is wearing a long black gown against the grey back
She carefully covers her hair with a headgear white
Her wrinkles depicting her lifespan and her plight
She appears serious, not smiling, and has weary eyes
She has a far away vacant look in her eyes
